What a spectacle at the Franciacorta Karting Track! In the Modena Kart team it's a big party with the great result achieved in the fourth and penultimate round of the WSK Super Master Series, thanks to the competitiveness of the whole team, exalted by Gioele Girardello in the victorious OK-NJ final, but also by the other splendid protagonists of the team who took part in the demanding Franciacorta event.
Success at Franciacorta.
In the stage that saw a new record number of participants with 405 drivers from 56 nations, in OK-N Junior the national anthem resounded to reward the team, with the victory of Gioele Girardello and his excellent result at the wheel of the performing Parolin chassis powered by M.A. Engines. Excellent results were also achieved by Nojus Stasionis, also competing in OK-NJ together with Albert Tamm, just as interesting were the performances in KZ2, with the Parolin chassis powered by TM Kart by Galiffa Kart, which greeted the season debut of Alessio Piccini in the company of Anatholy Khavalkin and Artemii Troitski.
What a race in OK-NJ!
Gioele Girardello's victory in OK-NJ was decidedly spectacular, achieved in the elimination heats alongside Nojus Stasionis, closely followed by Albert Tamm. The positive results, as great protagonists, were confirmed by the starting grids of the two Prefinals, with two Modena Kart drivers on the front row, Stasionis in Prefinal-A, Girardello in Prefinal-B. An incredible fight sacrificed Stasionis in the first Prefinal, with the Modena Kart driver retiring two laps from the end when he was fighting for first position. It went much better instead for Girardello, who managed to take the victory in the second Prefinal and predicted great things for the Final. In this Prefinal, however, Tamm had to leave sixth place due to an unfortunate penalty for the front spoiler out of position.
The Final was spectacular, Girardello started from the front row and fought on every metre of the track. He got off to a good start, then slipped to fourth place before recovering to take the lead in the closing stages and the victory in a great final sprint under the chequered flag. Stasionis finished a good sixth place recovering four positions, Tamm finished further back due to another penalty.
In the end, the joy on the podium for the conquest of the first step of the OK-NJ category gratified the whole Modena Kart team and its partners. In the championship Girardello with the full points earned in the Pre-final and Final went on to occupy third position, close to the leadership. The next final round in Viterbo will be decisive for the title.
KZ2 with great comebacks.
In KZ2, the two Modena Kart bearers, Anatholy Khavalkin and Artemii Troitskii, were joined by Alessio Piccini in his season debut. All three drivers qualified for the final phase. Piccini, after some problems in the heats that compromised him a good starting position, in the Pre-final staged a comeback of 16 positions to take eighth place, and then produced another sensational comeback of 18 positions in the Final. Not bad at all. Fifteen positions were also regained by Anatholy Khavalkin, who came close to the top ten in the Final, but a penalty meant he was heavily relegated in the standings, while Artemii Troitskii, who qualified in Pre-final-A, was unable to re-enter the Final.
Next appointment for the Modena Kart team on 16 March in Viterbo for the fifth and final round of the WSK Super Master Series.
